- Doctor of Chiropractic
Dr. Kirk started his academic career in aerospace engineering when he suffered injuries in a severe car accident. After needing to go through physical therapy for his recovery he decided to change his career path to PT.
Dr. Kirk graduated from the University of Cincinnati with his degree in Biomechanics. From there he went on to the University of Dayton where he earned a doctorate in physical therapy. Dr. Kirk was highly involved in his graduate program as class president. He graduated Magna Cum Laude and received two of the three awards given at his graduation including overall excellence and excellence in research.
Since graduation, Dr. Kirk was working locally in Cincinnati when he and his wife decided to travel the country. Dr. Kirk has had the opportunity to work all over the United States where he has learned various treatment techniques that have made him the clinician he is today. Dr. Kirk and his wife lived in New York City, Chicago, Washington DC, Seattle, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Columbia, SC, Pueblo, CO, and Santa Rosa, CA. Dr. Kirk and his wife decided to move back home here to Cincinnati in order to start a family.
Some of the various treatment techniques Dr. Kirk utilizes in his practice include joint mobilization, muscle energy technique, active release technique, myofascial release, trigger point release, as well as various strength and conditioning concepts. Dr. Kirk found his skills were most effective when addressing soft tissue through the myofascial or trigger point release before addressing the joint mobility and strength of his patients. As a result, Dr. Kirk decided to become certified in Dry Needling which has changed the game in his patient care.
Dr. Kirk has always been into weight lifting and fitness but recently discovered his passion for the mountains. While living on the west coast he started climbing and recently flew to Argentina to climb the tallest mountain in the world outside of the Himalayas and then to Russia to climb the tallest mountain in Europe. Dr. Kirk ran the Chicago marathon in 2014 and countless half marathons and mud runs. Dr. Kirk knows the importance of staying active and how important movement is for a healthy body and mind.
